As a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), I am not only nationally certified (NCCAOM) in acupuncture but also in
Chinese Herbal Medicine. I received my degree from the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin where I trained under some of the
most accomplished acupuncturists in the world. As a licensed acupuncturist, I have practiced in both "traditional" settings and
in some "untraditional" settings such as out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean aboard the SS Summit treating passengers and
crew.
While TCM is most sought out for the treatment of pain, it is a versatile medicine that can treat a wide range of ailments. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete medicine that can treat anything from sinus congestion to disorders in women's health such as dysmenorrhea and infertility. My clients have often come to me for the treatment of pain and continued with treatments for other afflictions such as anxiety and depression.
First time patients are often afraid of needles, however insertion of the needles is virtually pain free. Moreover, most people enter a deep state of relaxation once the needles have been inserted and report a feeling of euphoria after an acupuncture treatment. I also use a system of acupuncture in addition to TCM called the Balance Method (Dr. Tan style of acupuncture). Using this method I can treat most pain effectively with a minimal amount of needles. For example, I can usually treat migraines with only 1 needle and lower back pain with 2 to 4 needles.

Highland Acupuncture contributes to the philosophy of "complimentary medicine" - meaning Western Medicine and Oriental Medicine
